The Green Ribbon

Well I finally spoke with the vet yesterday and Radek's lumps were malignant. I was mistaken and thought the lumps were already known to be Mast Cell Tumors, when actually, the biopsy was to determine if they were in fact MCT's. All MCT's are cancerous and a grade from one to three is assigned to the tumor as an assessment of how aggressively malignant the cancer is, three being the worst. Radek's biopsy showed that both lumps were MCT's and therefore, both malignant. The one on his ear was a grade 1, meaning there should be no other treatment beyond surgical removal. The one on his hip was grade 2, which means it is more of a waiting game. If the tumor comes back in the same area in the next two or three months, the cancer is aggressive and we'll have to see an oncologist to talk about radiation and other treatments. If it doesn't, the doctor was able to remove all the cancerous cells with the removal and then it's party time! So again, we're still waiting, but for something a little different this time...

LA has assigned the Green Ribbon as a way to show your support for Radek. You can pick up your very own Green Ribbon and pin at your local craft store for what works out to just pennies a day.

We are all crossing our fingers & praying that the lump won't come back! I already called Stewart. He is taking Lucy to Hobby Lobby this afternoon to make green ribbons for us to wear!

Get your running shoes ready for the "RUN FOR RADEK" event coming soon! I just think it's a natural progression now that the green ribbons are in full effect! :)
