So I walk into the surgery room and the lady who went right before me was sitting up in the chair and her eyes looked crazy! It looked like she had been crying for days and just saw a ghost. Two or three nurses were around her asking if she was okay and if she felt nauseous but the lady wouldn't even talk... she only shook her head. It's a good thing I don't freak out too easily about these things or I think I would have been back out in the waiting room with my Mom in a flash!
So once they got the other lady up, I laid down in the chair and they stuck something circular down in my eye to hold it open. With all the pressure I felt I think its purpose was to make my eye bulge out too. Everything went black, they spun me under the laser, I heard them count down from 26 seconds, there was a beep, I spun back and then the circular thing was pulled out and I could see again... well, only sort of since they had just cut the flap in the tissue of my eye. Then we did it one more time for the other eye. I sat up hoping that my eyes didn't look like the lady before mine, but I'm sure they did... I went and sat in a quite dark waiting area which was still really bright for me. I had to just lay there with my eyes closed.
They then came and walked me into the surgery room again. This time I went to the other machine which actually does the correction.
Oh! Side note here: So they gave me a Vicodin beforehand. I don't take medicine EVER! Well, I do if it is really bad... Anyway, by the time I went into the surgery room the second time, the Vicodin was kicking in big time!!!
So this time I'm not sure what they held my eye open with, all I know is that I couldn't close it. The Dr. told me to stare at the little orange light, the laser did its thing and then I see the Dr. coming at my eye with a dentist type utensil to put the flap back in place. That was not comfortable at all! Nope, didn't like it! But I kept staring at the little orange light like he told me to... or so I thought I thought I was... On the second eye, the Dr. kept saying, "Fight the Vicodin, look at the orange light." I really thought I was looking at the light though! That's what they get for drugging me!!! :)
And that was it! They took me to a room and my mom came in. I just kept saying I was really tired. haha. Another Dr. shined some bright lights in my eyes to make sure everything looked good and we were off!
I fell asleep in the car on the way home... that is with a pillow over my face because it was so bright outside. When we got home, my oh so wonderful Mom tucked me in bed and I woke up 5 or 6 hours later to eat some cereal. Then another 6 hours later I woke up again for dinner and that oh so wonder pic. And then I was back in bed by 8:30!
Thanks Mom for taking such good care of me!!!
